FAQs
What age are the kids kickboxing classes suitable for?
Our Kids & Teens Kickboxing classes are suitable for children aged 7–16 years. The class is divided into two age groups (7–10 and 10+) with separate instructors, allowing each group to train at an appropriate level while remaining part of the same session.
Does my child need any previous kickboxing experience?
No. Our classes are designed for complete beginners as well as children with previous martial arts experience. New members are introduced to the fundamentals at a pace that suits them.
Can my child join at any time?
Yes. Children can join throughout the year. However, we recommend starting at the beginning of a school term where possible, as this makes it easier to follow the structured programme.
Do they need any equipment for their first class?
No. We provide spare gloves and training equipment for trial sessions and a child's first few classes. Once they decide to train regularly, we recommend purchasing their own gloves and hand wraps for hygiene reasons.
Can parents stay and watch?
Yes. Parents are welcome to stay throughout the session. We have a comfortable viewing area where you can watch the class, work remotely, socialise with other parents or enjoy a hot drink while your child trains.
How much does a trial session cost?
A trial session costs £12 with no further commitment. If your child decides to join after the trial, the £12 is deducted from the term fees.
Will my child work towards gradings?
Throughout each term we assess every student's progress and keep parents updated. Some children simply train recreationally, while others choose to work towards Kickboxing GB gradings.
Can children compete?
Yes. Children who show an interest in competing can progress to interclubs and competitions. Competition training requires a higher level of commitment than one class per week, with additional sessions recommended.
What skills will my child learn?
Children develop kickboxing techniques alongside important life skills including confidence, discipline, respect, coordination, fitness and teamwork in a safe and supportive environment.
